Spesifikasi dan Persyaratan Pelamar Pekerjaan

Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking to fill the position of SUMATRAN PROGRAM MANAGER to be base in Medan.

The Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) program will establish a replicable model of public-private partnerships that foster low carbon development opportunities, thereby helping to address global climate change and contribute to economic growth. The SLP will combine public (USAID) and private philanthropic (Walton Family Foundation) funding into an initial $20 million Facility focused on catalyzing low carbon private sector investment in specific landscapes of high conservation value in Indonesia over a five-year period. This Facility will invest in low carbon and Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) development activities and business models that seek to reduce or eliminate deforestation and associated CO2 emissions.

The Sumatran Program Manager (SPM) is responsible for developing and implementing an effective field program in North Sumatra with a specific focus on the Sustainable Landscapes Partnership but where possible extending to other CI-Indonesia programs. It is a key
position and reports directly to the SLP COP/DCOP. This is a senior-level position that has a proven record of strong management experience and will have the responsibility to oversee together with the SLP Deputy Chief of Party the planning, management and implementation of SLP field level initiatives at its various project sites currently located in North Sumatra

Project Development and Implementation

Provide technical, management and leadership primarily to support the SLP program to ensure that program/project results meets SLP and CI-I donor quality standards and expectations and that these projects are progressing on schedule;

Ensure that program activities are aligned with SLP goals and objectives where a fundamental element of these interventions is to promote stakeholder ownership, ‘buy-in’ and high quality outcomes that are replicable and can be scaled up;

Ensure that field staff and operations are on-line if not ahead of SLP program goals and objectives with proposed work-plan activities drafted and submitted for review;

Develop and refine climate change adaptation strategies based on development of scientific baselines, creation of policy enabling conditions with a specific focus on SLP;

Ensure that staff are well supported, with training and capacity needs readily identified with a focus on on-the-job training via mentoring, coaching and ‘frank and fearless feedback’ as long as it is constructive.

Project Reporting and Administration

Ensure that monthly, bi-annual and annual reports are submitted on time for review;

Ensure M&E systems are in place, will aid in the collection of reliable data and information;

Ensure that the SLP field team is submitting high quality reports, responsive to requests for success stories, testimonials and other materials required by program needs;

Ensure that field expenses are allowable and in line with budget proposals.

Ensure that good office processes and protocols are in place in line with USAID rules and regulations;

Consider innovative ways of capturing and communicating key program successes and achievements.

Capacity Building and Partnerships

Identify opportunities to develop partner capacity (whether private or public sector) so that they are unable to better understand the basis for SLP and apply this within their business models;

Together with the Stakeholder Engagement Manager ensure that public private partnership opportunities are identified, well researched, developed and then maintained so that they are strategically aligned with SLP. This will of course be done with the guidance and direction of the SLP COP/DCOP with direction provided where appropriate by the CI-Indonesia Executive Director.

Promote experience-based learning processes and policy feedback loops/mechanisms with the CI-I SMT, SLP field programs, headquarters, and partner government, private sector, and civil society organizations;

Support on-going adjustments/initiatives to CI-I and HQ-based strategic planning and related new terrestrial programs and climate change initiatives with the CI-I SMT and SLP, Sumatra and Papua Program Managers, and CI HQ Climate Change Initiative, CELB, and Moore Center teams in each field program, as opportunities arise.

At Degree in social science, management, natural resource management-related science with a minimum 5 years of experience;

Has experience in agribusiness, forestry or conservation work in Sumatra or another location with wide range of networking;

Extensive management and leadership experience;

Experience in coordinating and managing program support from International and National donor agencies, foundations and private sources with a preference for USAID;

Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations with a wide
range of people in both the public and private sectors, including
business, government, non-governmental organizations, donor
organizations, local communities, consultants and volunteers.

Knowledge and background in the customs and government organizations of Indonesia.

Proven track record in writing/editing successful
conservation-focused strategy documents, funding proposals, progress
reports and relevant materials.

Willingness to travel and work long hours, including work in arduous
field conditions, often to remote areas and work weekends and after
hours as needed.

Proven record of success as part of interdisciplinary project teams;

Good communication skills and develop network;

Fluent in English (Speaking, Reading and Writing);
